Digital Tools & Request Forms

Web 2.0 refers to a website that requires account creation and may store information about users.  The websites are typically interactive and provide opportunities for student engagement and/or collaboration.

Web 2.0 Request Procedure

Please follow this procedure when requesting use of any Web 2.0 tool.

1)      Check if it’s already on the approved/denied list above

2)      Login as a student to be sure the site isn’t blocked for students. If it is be sure to let us know. If it’s approved we’ll need to unblock it.

3)      Read the website terms and conditions, privacy policy, security policy, and other items like that.

4)     Fill out form below.

5)     Wait for a response which will have further instructions if it’s approved including what info to use to create the student accounts.

***Teachers*** to start the vetting process for a site please fill out the form below. Note that ONLY sites that require a student login need to go through this process. This is not for getting sites that are blocked by the filter opened for students. Please put a ticket in if that is what you need.

Apps requested by teachers for student use undergo a thorough evaluation process before they are made available on student iPads. Please note: Not all apps that are requested will be approved, including some that may have been available in the past.

The criteria used to evaluate requested apps is explained more thoroughly below. Clicking on the underlined links below will send you to a list of submitted apps that fall into that category.

Approved

Approved apps fully meet the primary criteria:

  1. Alignment with SACS Curricular Frameworks, Consistent Practices and Portrait of a Graduate. The app can be used within the expectations and guidelines laid out in the Literacy, Math, and/or STEM Frameworks. The app’s instructional material, content, and/or activities are appropriately designed to account for the variability of learners and include evidence-based practices as defined in the frameworks and consistent practices.
  2. Comparable digital tools and resources are not already available to meet the learning objectives. There is a specific need for this app because students and teachers do not have access to similar digital tools and resources in features and functionality.

Approved apps also meet some of the secondary criteria:

  1. Engagement and Ease of Use. By using the app, students increase their time on task by successfully and independently achieving learning objectives with little or no distraction. The app motivates students to not only begin the learning process, but to persist through it when challenges arise. The app causes a shift in student behavior from passive to active learners.
  2. Added value. The app has features that aid in the development or demonstration of deeper learning of instructional content. The app makes it easier for students to understand concepts or ideas and creates paths for students to express their learning and understanding in a different way.
  3. Intentional and Purposeful Use. The app allows for intentional pathways for students to progress through educational material. In other words, the teacher can use formative data from their own assessments or from the app to match students to appropriate learning activities in the app. These learning paths can also be created through adaptive technologies that exist within the app itself.

Denied

Denied apps fall short of meeting both the primary criteria and some of the secondary criteria.
