School Resource Officers

The School Resource Officer position is a cooperation between the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Southwest Allen County MSD that provides a wide array of services to the staff and students.  All resource officers are trained through the National School Resource Officers Association (NASRO).  NASRO training focuses on three main roles for the SRO; informal counselor, educator, and Law Enforcement Officer.  They are a constant support to our administrative teams.  They teach Project Truth and archery lessons at the elementary level.  They also teach digital citizenship and alcohol/drug awareness at the Middle School and High School levels.  They provide Stop the Bleed training to staff and co-lead  ALICE/Safety training for all new staff to Noblesville Schools.

School Resource Officers (SROs) promote a safe learning environment through educating and building relationships with students and staff members. While they serve as law enforcement officers, their primary focus is on helping young people learn about personal responsibility and how to make good decisions. SROs are in the classroom providing positive educational programming, in the hallways, lunchrooms and playgrounds engaging students in conversation and activities, and collaborating with school administrators and staff to evaluate and improve safety procedures that promote student safety.
